Club Welfare Officer – Keeping Our Students Safe

At our Taekwondo school, the safety and wellbeing of our members always comes first. To make sure we meet modern safeguarding requirements and best practice, we have a dedicated Club Welfare Officer.

While everyone in the club shares responsibility for safeguarding, the Welfare Officer provides a clear and trusted point of contact, helping ensure any concerns are dealt with quickly, correctly, and sensitively. This role is also an important requirement of National Governing Bodies.

What the Club Welfare Officer Does

A safe person to talk to
The Welfare Officer is the first point of contact for students, parents, and volunteers if they have any concerns about welfare, behaviour, or safety.

Proper reporting and records
Any concerns are recorded and reported in line with National Governing Body safeguarding procedures and, where required, passed to the appropriate authorities.

Safeguarding policies in action
They help make sure safeguarding policies, codes of conduct, and procedures are understood and followed by everyone in the club.

Training and safe recruitment
The Welfare Officer ensures instructors and volunteers complete safeguarding training and that required checks, such as DBS, are in place.

A positive and inclusive environment
They work with instructors and staff to promote a respectful, inclusive, and bullying-free environment where everyone feels safe and supported.

Confidential and professional
All welfare matters are handled with care and confidentiality, and information is shared only when necessary.

By having a dedicated Club Welfare Officer, we demonstrate our strong commitment to safeguarding, ensuring our students can train, grow, and enjoy Taekwondo in a safe and supportive environment.
