Health benefits of Taekwondo
Older Adults
Over the age of 30 adults begin to lose muscle mass at around 1% per year and this is one of the reasons why things become more difficult as you get older. This is call Sarcopenia which is age associated muscle degeneration and after middle age this increases to 3% muscle loss per year. The best way to fight Sarcopenia is to have a sensible diet with a good level of protein, remain active with aerobic exercise, resistance and balance training which are all included elements in Taekwondo thus making it an excellent means of fighting Sarcopenia.
